Selank

Cognitive & nootropic

Also known as: Tuftsin analog, TP-7

A Russian anxiolytic nootropic peptide, used intranasally to ease anxiety without heavy sedation.

Safety:Used in Russia for anxiety but barely studied in Western trials. Usually a nasal spray, and generally mild, but the evidence base is small.

2.What it is / mechanism

Selank is a synthetic version of tuftsin, a small immune peptide, tweaked to last longer. It calms anxiety by modulating GABA and serotonin signaling and by raising BDNF, without the strong sedation or dependence of benzodiazepines. Users often notice a calming effect within a few days, much faster than an SSRI. It is used clinically in Russia for anxiety and is given as a nasal spray.s1

3.What the evidence supports

  • Limited human dataEases anxiety, often within a few days.s1

From Russian clinical use and small studies, with little Western replication.

  • Animal data onlySupports focus and mood, and raises BDNF.s1

4.Dosing

Limited human data
Route(s)intranasal (most common), subcutaneous
Typical rangeIntranasal about 250 to 500 mcg per day, as a 0.15 percent solution.
FrequencyOnce or twice daily
Cycle guidanceShort courses, often 10 to 14 days, repeated as needed.
NotesUsually used as a nasal spray. The blood is short. As with Semax, for nasal use the concentration in mcg per drop matters, not syringe units.
s1

A dose is only as good as the draw. Which syringe you need depends on how much water you mixed with, and the most common gear mistakes (a 0.5 mL syringe that cannot hold the dose, a mixing barrel that ships without needles, sizing up a needle because of body fat) are all avoidable. See what to buy: syringes, needles, and the rest of the kit.

5.Reconstitution

Vial sizes5 mg, 10 mg
DiluentBacteriostatic or sterile water. Often mixed for nasal use rather than injection.
ConcentrationExample: a 5 mg vial plus 5 mL of water gives 1 mg/mL. For nasal use, work out mcg per drop. For subcutaneous use, a 300 mcg dose is 0.3 mL, which is 30 units on a U-100 syringe.
NotesSold as a lyophilized powder or as a ready made nasal spray.

Inputs

Which do you know?

You want a set amount of compound. We show how many units to draw on the syringe.

Reminder: 1 mg = 1,000 mcg

mg

Total amount stated on the vial, e.g. 5 mg.

mL

How much diluent you draw into the vial.

Check this before you read the result. 1 mg = 1,000 mcg, so picking the wrong one is a 1,000x error, not a rounding error.

Draw to

10 units

= 0.1 mL on a U-100 syringe

Easy draw: this dose comes out to a clean 10 units.

Aim for a dose that lands on an even number of units, like 10, 20, or 50. It is easier to draw accurately and to remember, and it keeps you off awkward repeating decimals.

7.Reported side effects

  • CautionNasal irritation(common)s1Mainly with the nasal spray.
  • CautionMild fatigue or drowsiness(uncommon)s1
  • CautionHeadache(uncommon)s1

8.Interactions & stacking risks

  • CautionSerotonergic medicines such as SSRIs

It modulates serotonin, so use care alongside serotonergic drugs.

  • CautionSedatives or alcohol

Could add to any calming or drowsy effect.

9.Contraindications / who should avoid

  • SeriousPregnancy or breastfeeding

No safety data in pregnancy or breastfeeding.

10.COA & purity notes

Common adulterantsnasal sprays that vary in concentration, underdosed or mislabeled vials
MislabelingNasal products vary in strength, so check the concentration. A recent third party COA helps.
NotesUsed as a medicine in Russia, but not approved in the US. Gray market material is unregulated.
